In this book on disequilibrium, growth and labor market dynamics we take predominantly a macroeconomic perspective. We present a working model that can easily be varied in different directions in order to subsume innovations in the literature on macroeconomics, old and new, and to contribute to important currently discussed macroeconomic issues. Our working model is set up in a way that there is a close relationship between our presented dynamic models and modern macro econometric models with disequilibrium both in the labor and the goods markets. One of our objectives is, therefore, to narrow the gap between theoretical and applied structural macrodynamic model building. We hope that the book will be a useful reference for all researchers, academic teachers and practitioners of macroeconomic and macro econometric model building who are interested in economic dynamics, independently of whether they use equilibrium or disequilibrium methods in their own research. We base this hope on the fact that our approach contains a number of unique features. The emphasis on the identification and analysis of the basic feedback mechanisms at work in modern macro economies. A detailed study of the partial as well as integrated dynamic interaction between these feedback mechanisms that consti- tute the interdependence of markets and sectors of the modern macro economy. The rela- tionship between the macroeconomic framework of our working model and the Walrasian, Non-Walrasian and New-Keynesian reformulations of macroeconomics.

Conceptual modeling can be considered as lying at the confluence of the three main aspects of information technology applications -- the world of the stakeholders and users, the world of the developers, and the technologies available to them. C- ceptual models provide abstractions of various aspects related to the development of systems, such as the application domain, user needs, database design, and software specifications. These models are used to analyze and define user needs and system requirements, to support communications between stakeholders and developers, to provide the basis for systems design, and to document the requirements for and the design rationale of developed systems. Because of their role at the junction of usage, development, and technology, c- ceptual models can be very important to the successful development and deployment of IT applications. Therefore, the research and development of methods, techniques, tools and languages that can be used in the process of creating, maintaining, and using conceptual models is of great practical and theoretical importance. Such work is c- ducted in academia, research institutions, and industry. Conceptual modeling is now applied in virtually all areas of IT applications, and spans varied domains such as organizational information systems, systems that include specialized data for spatial, temporal, and multimedia applications, and biomedical applications.

In any histopathology department, cutaneous biopsies form the major part of the workload. In many instances these may be readily dealt with by experienced pathologists and their documentation represents an essential step in organising therapy. However, in a number of areas dramatic changes have occurred in dermatopathology. The rapidly changing incidence of pigmented lesions of the skin and the availability of diagnostic cell markers in the complex cutaneous lymphomas have meant that for many pathologists a review in these fields will be valu- able. The distribution and pattern of skin pigmentation may allow us to make important assertions and draw importantconclusions about the genetics of skin disease, but also about human variability. Cutane- ous vasculitis is a difficult problem where clinicopathological consulta- tion is vital in diagnosis and the review presented has been written with this verymuch in mind. In the same way, many diagnostic difficul- ties exist in assessing buttous lesions in the skin and for this reason a review was invited. The goal of the conference is to promote new advances in aerospace GNC theory and technologies for enhancing safety, survivability, efficiency, performance, autonomy and intelligence of aerospace systems using on-board sensing, computing and systems. A great push for new developments in GNC are the ever higher safety and sustainability requirements in aviation. Impressive progress was made in new research fields such as sensor and actuator fault detection and diagnosis, reconfigurable and fault tolerant flight control, online safe flight envelop prediction and protection, online global aerodynamic model identification, online global optimization and flight upset recovery. All of these challenges depend on new online solutions from on-board computing systems. Scientists and engineers in GNC have been developing model based, sensor based as well as knowledge based approaches aiming for highly robust, adaptive, nonlinear, intelligent and autonomous GNC systems. Although the papers presented at the conference and selected in this book could not possibly cover all of the present challenges in the GNC field, many of them have indeed been addressed and a wealth of new ideas, solutions and results were proposed and presented.

We are pleased to present the second volume of our study on Psychoana- lytic Practice, which we entitle Clinical Studies. Together, the two volumes fulfill the functions usually expected of a textbook on theory and tech- nique. In fact, some reviewers have asked why such a title was not cho- sen. One of the reasons for our narrower choice was that our primary concern is focused on those aspects of psychoanalytic theory that are relevant to treatment. The first volume, entitled Principles, has evoked much interest within and outside the professional community, creating high expectations to- ward its clinical counterpart. After all, psychoanalytic principles must demonstrate their value and efficacy in treatment, i. e., in achieving changes in symptoms and their underlying structures. This is apparent in the clinical studies contained in this book, and in the process of compil- ing them the senior author has had the opportunity to take stock of his long professional career.

Wir leben in einer Zeit des Wandels von der Industrie- zur Informationsgesell- schaft. Dieser Wandel wird in allen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen zu weitreichen- den Veranderungen fiihren. Bereits heute zeichnet sich ab, daB neue Formen der Kommunikation und Information erheblich an Bedeutung gewinnen werden. Und -Multimedia-Technologien bilden das Ruckgrat dieser Entwicklung. Nach unserem Eindruck teilen die Verantwortlichen in Wirtschaft, Staat und Wissenschaft diese Einschatzung und haben damit begonnen, die Chancen der Multimediatechnik zu nutzen, damit der "Rohstoff' Information zur Steigerung der Produktivitat unserer Wirtschaft und der weiteren Entwicklung unserer Gesellschaft beitragen kann. Mittlerweile registriert auch die breite Offentlichkeit das EinfluBpotential von Multimedia. Das hat sicherlich dazu beigetragen, daB sich der deutsche Multi- media-KongreB, der vom 11. bis 13. Juni nach 1992 und 1994 zum dritten Mal in Heidelberg stattfinden wird, als erfolgreiche und teilnehmerstarke Veranstaltung zum Thema Multimedia fest etablieren konnte. Wir meinen, daB es den Veran- staltern auch dieses Mal gelungen ist, ein attraktives Programm zusammenzustel- len. Wir sind ein wenig stolz darauf, daB wird die "key players" nach Heidelberg locken konnten, so daB die aktuellen Entwicklungen und Trends im deutschen und internationalen Multimedia-Markt auf hohem Niveau gezeigt und kompetent diskutiert werden k6nnen. In diesem Zusammenhang hat es uns ganz besonders gefreut, den Bundesmi- nister fur Bildung, Wissenschaft, Forschung und Technologie als Schirmherrn fiir unsere Veranstaltung gewinnen zu k6nnen. Dr. Jiirgen Ruttgers wird den Kon- greG mit einem Grundsatzreferat zur technischen Entwicklung von Multimedia und den sich daraus ergebenden Anwendungsperspektiven er6ffnen.
Der Mathematiker Hausdorff hat in seinem 1914 erschienen Buch "Mengenlehre" erstmals den damals aktuellen Stand auf dem Gebiet der deskriptiven Mengenlehre dargestellt. Neben diesem Werk, das von Experten sorgfaltig kommentiert wurde, prasentiert der 3. Band der Hausdorff-Edition seine veroffentlichten Arbeiten zur deskriptiven Mengenlehre und Topologie sowie zahlreiche Studien aus dem Nachlass. Darunter u. a. seine originelle Vorlesung im Sommersemester 1933 uber algebraische Topologie.
